As summer comes to a close, you still have time to enjoy outdoor workouts. If you live in an area where leaves fall and temperatures take a nosedive, it may soon be time to move your workouts inside. Even if you don’t live where temperatures become too cold to enjoy the outdoors, you can use some of the advice below to continue workouts on rainy days.
Develop Your Plan
Right now, you probably have some sort of plan that involves both cardio and strength training each day of the week. To stick to that plan, you’ll need to think of what products you might need to purchase if you’re using various items during your workout. If you find that you need dumbbells and barbells to complete your exercises, you may want to look into a gym membership that fits your needs.
Invest in Equipment
To avoid running out in the dark, think about investing in a treadmill or stationary bike. This may help if you find that you have trouble waking up when it’s dark outside. If you live in an apartment and you don’t have a large amount of space, you can fit it in your living room.
Find Workouts on YouTube
YouTube can be a great asset in trying to find new ways to bring your workout indoors. Just search for the exercise you’re looking to do and type “inside.” You’ll be able to find both specific exercises and entire workouts you can do within the comforts of your own home.
Think of Stairs in Every Situation
If you find that your time outdoors is extremely limited as you head towards winter, think of different situations where you might be able to use the stairs rather than an escalator or elevator. Taking the stairs actually offers health improvements, too. According to the Canadian Medical Association Journal, using the stairs instead of an elevator can lead to higher productivity at work and better heart health.
